Azle Dental Care Christmas Party 2008

We had a great party for Christmas this year. Usually we all cram into a restaurant somewhere and try to visit and play games. This year we stayed at my house and did an Iron Chef party. We all made a dish with a similar ingredient (this year it was cocoa) and everyone picked their favorite. Belinda made a great Indian cocoa spiced chicken salad that won. We love giving out prizes, don't we.

Candy Buy Back 2008

This is our 8th year to pay people for candy. Sounds crazy, huh. You are thinking " Dr. Porter,Go to the store and buy your own." But, the point of the whole day is to keep kids and their parents from having candy laying around the house. I know from personal experience that if candy is in my house, I will eat it. A lot of kids have a habit of picking up candy two, three, even four times a day. This is awful for their teeth and not good for their health.

I pay each person $1 a pound for their candy and they are entered into a drawing for a WII.This year Zac Edwards was our WII winner. Way to go, Zac!Candybuybackwinner

My team can make your smile shine and save your life

At the ADC (sounds like a hip teen show), we work hard to make sure all of our patients are safe.  So every two years, our entire team is CPR certified.  Everyone.  In case anything ever happens, we want to be sure our patients' safety is covered.

We finally have windows

We have been waiting on windows for the new office since early May. They had arrived two other times and both times they were scratched. But, they are officially intalled and the inside of the office can start coming together. This is by far the strangest thing I have ever done. So many choices over things I have never considered before, like what color the toilet needs to be. And I never knew there was a color named "Biscuit".

Our estimated goal of moving is at the end of September. That is just a random date I have picked around an estimated date of August 1 from the builder.  No one ever gets in on time I am told.

Another thing we are planning to do is a vacation sometime this summer. We have been checking hotels for the kids to do stuff. Found one that offers surfing lessons. Sounds exciting.

OK, I'll get better at blogging soon. I'll try to put more interesting topics about teeth, oral cancer, whitening, things everyone wants to know from a dentist, but I will still give you the heads up on the new office. I'm so excited!

BYE FOR NOW:)
