Let's talk dentistry

Implant dentistry is a very hot topic in dentistry right now. Patients come in and ask me if it would be better to have all of their teeth taken out and have all implanted teeth. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! My first motto in dentistry is " Always try and use the parts God gave you". Sounds a little simple minded,  but our bodies are put together the way they are for a reason.

Some people do have enough issues with their teeth that replacing them is the only option. Dentistry gives use at least two if not three choices for patients to think about. Although price of the restoration is always a factor, longevity of the appliance, appointment times, recovery and appearance need to be considered.

If implants are the way you choose to go and you have multiple teeth to replace, see if an implant supported bridge might work in the space. It saves several implant placements and may look more natural. If you need an entire mouth redone, implants can snap in a full denture. This looks very nice and is very stable.

If you have any questions on implants, just ask!

Is it just me or is everybody busy?

I'm sorry I haven't been posting lately.  We've been so busy.  When school is out in Azle, everybody wants their teeth cleaned.  (It's really pretty cool!)

We are running three hygienist, and I'm starting to get their flow down.  I now know why retail stores like Best Buy and the Gap use the headsets to talk to one another.  It's the only way they can keep their customers happy.

When things slow down a bit, I hope to post; I've had a couple exciting things happen at the old Azle Dental Care that I really want to share.

Keep Smiling!

OK, I know, it has been a while......

We are in the new office and things are a little hectic still. Kinda like unpacking things in a new house and not knowing where the silverware drawer is all the time. We spend alot of our day looking for stuff. It makes it a bit harder to help people effieciently, but like my granfather use to say, "This, too, shall pass." I want to get settled and have a big open house for everyone, but the holidays are here and I know there are going to be too many conflicting parties. We'll probably wait until the first of the year, so I'll post it when the date is set.

See our new office!!!

Front_of_office We have finally settled in! We started packing in the beginning of Aug and I just now feel like we have figured out where everything goes. A whole lotta tweeking was going on for the last month to get things comfortable for patients. So for any patients that had to put up with computer gliches and us not being able to find things very fast... I'm so sorry :)!!!

Here is an open invite for anyone that wants to come by for a tour. We are here throughout the day Monday-Thursday. Come by and look around and grab a cup of coffee or tea OR a bottle of AZLE DENTAL CARE WATER!!!

See you soon!

Busy month for Azle Dental Care

Dsc00023_2 Well, I have finally found a minute to post current events on my blog site. First off, my family and I went to San Diego for an award ceremony on the deck of the USS Midway. I have been working toward my fellowship in the Academy of general Dentistry for the past 6 years. To receive the award, I had to complete 500 hours of continuing education (mainly on the weekends away from my family), take a 400 question exam and attend the ceremony. It was an awesome experience! The trip was wonderful because we turned it into our family vacation for the summer.Dsc00153_2 My kids loved the American Girl Store in Los Angeles. We spent most of the day there along with most of our money. One of my favorite things was Croce's restaurant in the Gaslamp District. Jim Croce is one of my favorite childhood songwriters so it was really neat to see some of his memorabilia.

Next topic, THE NEW OFFICE IS ALMOST DONE!!!!! Pict0398 Our builder says  that we should get the green light to start the move sometime after the 18th (which is my sister Pepper's birthday). If things fall into place after that point, we will be moving around the 23rd(which is my birthday :). I am starting to doubt my decision on choosing a dark blue carpet throughout the business area. Well, if it is the wrong choice, we'll just take it up and start over. It has to be right.

Third topic, my appreciation for my office grows everyday. My patients are wonderful and I am truly blessed to be able to help so many friends and families. My office staff is fantastic. They get more excited about the new office than I do sometimes. There is no way I could do it without them. God has put me here and surrounded me by amazingly talented people.

Close to a real office, now!

Today I picked the color for the outside of the building. I sure hope it looks spectacular when it is done. It is difficult for me to picture anything bigger than a mouth and visualize what it will look like completed, but I think it will look really nice. The color is SW 7037.Sounds exciting, doesn't it. I think it is tannish khaki. The stones that are on the lower part of the wall have that base tone in them. I had wanted a darker color, but after seeing brown on the building, I knew it needed to be lighter. Brown looked like mud.

The door is being installed tomorrow. The interior walls are going up today and tomorrow and there is a big meeting between the equipment people and the installation people on Friday to work out all  of the kinks.  The closer we get toward moving, the stranger it is to see. It is so easy to plan something for 7 years of your life, but to actually see it is mind -blowing.

My main vision of this office is to bring to my patients a comfortable and safe environment so that they can get the care they deserve. All of the small details that go into an office are usually for the doctor and the office staff. I see that the things that are built for me and my group make it easier to help our family of patients and hopefully make them more at ease.

The reason I am posting progress on the new office is for my patients to stay up to date. For any of you that want to be patients, call me at 817-444-1763 and Melisa, Teryn, or Kathy will make you an appointment.
